Contemporary wines rooted in tradition

Situated in the south of Portugal, where plains are the predominant landscape, the sub-region of Alto Alentejo is heavily influenced by the Serra de São Mamede mountain range, with vineyards located at higher altitudes. Portalegre is characterised by very hot summers with little rainfall, contrasting with cold winters, which confer unique characteristics on the wines produced there.

Our vineyards are planted in heterogeneous soils ranging from granite to slate or calcareous clay soil with good drainage. It is in this unique terroir, marked by such different and distinctive characteristics, that Terra d’Alter wines are born.
